Restaurant Review: Pies ‘n’ Thighs

This week Luca checked out Pies ‘n’ Thighs on S.4th in Williamsburg.  http://piesnthighs.com/menu

It was a beautiful afternoon, the first we could actually dine outside and be comfortable.  Luca runs hot, just like his Dad, so it’s usually AC all the way with these two.

Thumbs up for Pies ‘n’ Thighs!  Chris had the Fried Chicken Box (the thighs) with a hefty biscuit and baked beans (made with brisket) for his side.  I had the Fried Catfish Box with cornbread, cole slaw, and the Summer salad side.  Catfish was cornmeal crusted and fried perfectly.  I’m into cole-slaw (I liked), but the Summer salad had way too much vinegar for me.  We ordered a side of mac & cheese too (it was creamy with a drizzle of hot sauce!).  As we LOVE hush puppies, we were bummed that they were off the menu for the day, we’ll try them next time for sure.  Luca had formula, so refreshing.

As the afternoon heated up we took our dessert (the pies) to go.  So many great choices, I was really torn between the Key Lime Pie and the Chocolate Pudding Pie.  Chris had the Peanut Butter Pie and I finally settled on the Chocolate Pudding.  First off, points deducted for small slices!  Pie really deserves a solid slice to be fully enjoyed.  PB Pie was very thick pb base with a thin layer of chocolate topping (peanutbutter cup esque) and the Choc Pudding Pie was more like a fudge… I never had a pudding pie like that before.  Going to try the Key Lime next time.

All in all a good southern experience right in Brooklyn. Luca gives it 4 rattles out of 5. After realizing that small desserts are the way of the world… Luca gives it 4.5 rattles out of 5.  Took a take-out menu on our way out.
